In memory of
LAURA LEE SHAYS
SHAYS, LAURA LEE Laura Lee Shays, a child of God, received her promise of eternal life on January 8, 2017 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida following a valiant fight with cancer. Laura was born on February 17, 1961 to Ronald G. and Patricia Adams Shays in Albany, Georgia. As the child of a military family, Laura traveled extensively throughout her childhood. Since her dad was in the U.S. Coast Guard, she developed her love of the beach early and continued to enjoy our beautiful Florida beaches all through her life. Laura graduated from Pensacola High School and attended Pensacola State College. Her adult years were spent in restaurant management. She was currently employed in the Food Services Division of Shands Hospital. She was of the Protestant faith and was baptized at age 12 at Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church in Mobile, Alabama. Laura swam and played tennis competitively in her school years, and became a serious golfer in adulthood. Laura leaves behind her mother, Pat Shays, her brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Tonya Shays, and her much loved nieces, Madison and Katie Shays. She is also survived by a loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and more friends than most folks could even dream about. A memorial service honoring her life and her memory will be held at a later date at the Adams family section of Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Georgia. The family requests that any donations be made to Haven Hospice, but would also be happy for you to raise a glass in Laura's memory.
