Larry E. Frank
STEAMBURG - Larry Eugene Frank, 83, of North Loop Road, Steamburg, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2017) at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1933, in the town of South Valley, the son of the late Theodore Wesley and Flora (Barney) Frank. Larry was a 1950 graduate of Randolph Central and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He retired from Buffalo Crushed Stone in Machias, after 30 years of service as a heavy equipment operator. He also was a member of the Local 17 Operating Engineers Union in Syracuse. His interests included playing snow snake, hunting, fishing, gardening and working on late model cars. He was happiest when he was outdoors or in the woods and enjoyed his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Opal M. (Watt-Wendell) Frank, whom he married on Dec. 11, 1952, in Lake Jackson, Texas; two daughters, Jeri Frank and husband Fred Koch of Manassas, Va., and Terri Howard of Steamburg; two sons, Steve Frank and wife Nancy of Steamburg and Shawn Frank of Minneapolis, Minn.; a cousin, Bob Frank, who was like a brother; five grandchildren, Allen Burch, Jarid John, Dustin Frank, Racheal Bryan and Kaitlyn Howard; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jo Lynette Frank on May 7, 2011; and a sister, Betty Hoppe. There will be no visitation observed.
