KENNETH D. HALFERTY, 83, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. Born March 2, 1933, in Kendall ville, Ind., he was the son of the late Donald Edward and Mable Malee (Engle) Halferty. He married Audrey Buehrer on Oct. 18, 1953, and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class. He graduated from Purdue University with a pharmacy degree in 1959 and moved to New Haven to raise their family. After becoming a registered pharmacist, he worked at a number of retail pharmacies in the Fort Wayne area. He retired from Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in 1996. After retirement, he and Audrey enjoyed traveling to Ireland, England and Mexico. He was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as elder and usher. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Halferty; daughter, Valerie Graham of New Haven; and sister, Peggy Earnhart of Albion. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kirby Halferty, in 1990; son-in-law, Donald Graham, in 2012; brother, Edward Halferty; sister, Doris McCoy; and brother-in-law, Dean Earnhart. A celebration of Kenneth's life is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at First Assembly of God, 1400 West Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, New Haven. Memorial donations may be made to First Assembly of God. Arrangements by Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
