In memory of
Kenneth "Tom" Donovan
Kenneth Donovan Redding, CA Kenneth "Tom" Donovan passed away peacefully on the morning of October 7th, 2016. Tom was born in Corcoran, CA on July 12, 1928; the only child, to Grace and Joseph Donovan. Tom spent most of his 88 years between Sacramento and Redding. Tom was an incredible individual with such a unique personality. He lived life for the party, was more social than most 20 year olds, and everyone loved him from the first time they met. His tag line was "Hi I'm Tom and I'm fun to be with." People would have breakfast at the Black Bear Diner or happy hour at Applebee's just to hang out with Tom. He was so popular around town that there was even a softball team named after him called "Team Tom" and he was their actual mascot. Tom was a veteran and served in the Army as a Sargent, stationed in Germany, just following WWII. While he was serving his country, he also boxed and played football for the U.S. Army. After his time in the the Army, Tom worked as a truck driver for 45 years. Tom's death was preceded by the death of his first wife, Patricia Hunton Ricci. Tom always talked about Pati with love and admiration. Pati and Tom moved to Sacramento and raised their young children Tim, Shawn and Greg. Tom and his second wife, Vicki, mother of Jarrod and Justin, had an unbreakable bond and a lifelong friendship. Tom is survived by his children; Tim Donovan, Shawn Donovan, Greg Donovan and his wife Keri, Jarrod Donovan and his wife Toni, and Justin Donovan, and his eight grandchildren, Drew, Michael, Payton, Samantha, Aaron, Chase, Lillian, and Bella. To say Tom will be missed by all is an understatement, but he lived a long, fulfilling life doing exactly what he wanted to do. We love you Tom. Please join us for a celebration of life on Sunday October 16th at Cattlemen's from 1-5 pm. This will be an open forum for people to eat, drink, and share their favorite stories about Tom.
