Kenneth Dansby Kenneth Charles Dansby, 62, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died April 5, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Kenneth was born April 27, 1954 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Isaac and Vera Dansby. Ken grew up in Akron among close family and friends, and attended Akron Public Schools, where he played football during his years at John R. Buchtel High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1978, where he served as a Medical Specialist for 17 years and 8 months, eventually achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Throughout his career Ken received numerous honors in recognition of his exemplary service, including both the Army Commendation and Achievement Medals; Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star; and culminating in conferral of the Liberation Medal and Expert Field Medical Badge following his deployment in Kuwait. Ken later completed training in both the Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer and First Sergeant Administration Courses. Upon Honorable Discharge in 1991, Kenneth was employed by the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Fayetteville. Ken deeply loved his parents, siblings, relatives and the many friends he made through the military and the Fayetteville community he called home. In his spare time he was an avid reader of historical literature. Kenneth was predeceased by his father, Isaac Dansby Jr., and Chanovon Martin, whom he deeply loved as a son. Kenneth is survived by his mother, Vera C. Dansby of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Isaac, III of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, Terrell and Eric of Akron; sisters, Norma Dansby Daniels of Akron, and Venita Dansby Dixon (Christopher, MD) of Elk Grove, Calif.; plus a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, colleagues, and friends. Also mourning his loss is Montez Martin, whom Kenneth also loved and cherished as a son. Funeral services and interment in Fayetteville, N.C., April, 19, 2017.
