CRAWLEY--Kathleen. Passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2016. She was 89. Kathleen 'Kathy" Crawley (nee Wieand), was born on November 25, 1926 in Quakertown, PA. After attending Temple University, she joined Pan American Airlines as a stewardess, which sparked a lifelong love of travel. In her later years, she turned to painting and for many happy decades she attended classes at the National Academy School of Fine Arts, becoming an accomplished watercolorist with a unique eye and exuberant use of color. Well into her 80s she traveled the length and breadth of New York City by subway to capture plein air scenes from Central Park to Governors Island. She delighted in setting off to all parts of the world on painting trips with friends, gardening on her terrace, and hosting visits from her beloved granddaughters Lindsay Baker, Hillary Baker, Molly Tuohy and Sophia McNamara. Predeceased by her husband Lawrence Q. Crawley M.D., she is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Baker, Jennifer Crawley and Kamala McNamara, as well as her dear sisters Althea Serge, Carole Mertz and Nancy Bolieau and her many nieces and nephews. Vibrant, smart and full of life, Kathy's irreplaceable wit and warmth will be forever remembered and missed by her loving friends and family. Private services will be held. A memorial celebrating her life will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Philomusica Chorale, P.O Box 4016, Philadelphia, PA 19118, www. philomusicachorale.org .
