Karen Mae Clark
1943-2016 Karen Mae Clark, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Newhall, CA for 71 years. Karen was born in Los Angeles on January 17, 1943 to the late Ralph Wooley Overton and Rose Woods Overton. Shortly after moving to Newhall in 1945, her parents started Newhall Realty & Insurance. Karen attended Newhall Elementary School and William S. Hart Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1960. She studied business at San Diego State University for one year before marrying her husband of 54 years, Robert Lowe Clark, Jr. Karen worked as a Pipeline Planner for the Southern California Gas Company for 35 years, where she met some of her dearest friends. In retirement, Karen enjoyed playing golf and bowling with her girlfriends, spending time with her grandchildren, and taking trips to Laughlin with her husband. The rock of her family, Karen's quiet strength and selflessness were a gift to her loved ones. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lowe Clark, Jr. of Newhall, CA; daughter, Julie Clark Rouse and grandchildren: Karenna Rose Rouse and William Garrett Rouse of Phoenixville, PA; brothers, Ronald Woods Overton of Tustin, CA and Donald Edward Overton of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Robert Clark. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m., with services at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 14, 2016 in the Chapel of the Oaks at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City of Hope Cancer Center in memory of Karen M. Clark (Attn: Gift Administration, 1500 E. Duarte Rd., Duarte, CA 91010) in memory of Karen M. Clark.
