Paul preceded her in death in 2009. The family moved to Redding in 1951, when Paul joined the faculty of Shasta Junior College. She was also blessed to have four step-grandchildren, Mark (Patty) and Dirk (Diana) Burgon, and Justin Russak; seven step great-grandchildren; and seven step great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her dear sister, Eleanor Sparrowe of Sonoma, California; brother, and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. June was an accomplished homemaker, who loved to cook, sew, knit, garden, and play bridge and tennis (Sun Oaks Tennis Club). She was also an avid reader, and loved solving crossword puzzles. She volunteered as a cook at YMCA Camp McCumber, a Brownie leader, and was active in the First Methodist Church. The family enjoyed boating on Shasta Lake, and travels to Hawaii. June also found time to work several years as a receptionist for Clair A. Hill & Associates. After retirement, June and Paul enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel RV around the US. Internationally she traveled to Singapore, Sumatra, Indonesia, England, Germany and the Netherlands. She was also an active member of PEO since 1980. A private Celebration of Life will be held at McDonalds Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances may be donated to: Chapter NY PEO, C/O Marianne Norman, 4882 Alta Mesa Dr., Redding, CA 96002.
