June Mitchell Hagberg-Aylen June Mitchell Hagberg-Aylen was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roy B. Mitchell and Myrtle J. Mitchell, and went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2017 in Olympia, Wash. She was the second daughter in a family of six, and grew up in Salt Lake City, moving to Puyallup, Wash., as a teen. She graduated from Puyallup High School in 1939. June married the love of her life, Carl E. Hagberg, in December 1942, settling first in Tacoma, Wash., and then Olympia, Wash., raising four daughters. Life was always busy with activities, including PTA, Girl Scouts, Blue Birds, Mary Bridge, and Children's Orthopedic Guilds. She worked much of her married life and enjoyed her time at the Washington State Senate as an Executive Secretary for Senator Paul Connor. She was a lifelong Democrat and was passionate about politics. June never met a plant she couldn't grow and have flourish, with a beautiful garden that she loved tending. It gave her great pleasure to sew and knit for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carl died in 1998 after 56 years of marriage. Later she became reacquainted with and married Dr. Robert Aylen, a classmate from her high school graduating class. They were married for 16 years until his death in 2016. June is survived by her four daughters, Ann Wendorf (Jerry) of Redmond, Wash.; Janet Hanson (Richard) of Kenmore, Wash.; Carol Wallace (Dennis) of Olympia, Wash.; and Barbara Leland (Brad) of Woodinville, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Philip of Lakewood, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephew. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
