JULIAN D. HOUTZ
JULIAN D. HOUTZ, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. Born in Huntington, Ind., Julian was the son of the late Harold and Loveta Houtz. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked with Geyer Instructional Aids for many years prior to his retirement. Julian was a man of strong faith, devotion, and prayer to his Lord. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his granddaughters in which he and his wife took much joy in watching and caring for. Julian enjoyed gardening, nature, and classic cars. He was a very humble man and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was a member of First Missionary Church where he was a custodian for many years. Surviving are his son, Eric Houtz of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Janeen (Brian McGhee) Houtz of Fort Wayne; sister, Bonnie (Dr. Don) Furuto of Birmingham, Ala.; and granddaughters, Savonna and Nevaeh McGhee; along with nephews, Daniel, Luke, and Matthew Furuto. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Houtz. Service is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the funeral home.
