JUDITH LEONE DeROSE "Judy" Judith "Judy" Leone DeRose died peacefully in her home on January 9, 2017 in Potomac Falls, VA due to complications from ovarian cancer. She was 74. Judy was born on April 3, 1942 in Schenectady, New York to her parents Edward Van Patten and Edna Havens Van Patten. She moved to Washington, DC in 1962 and worked for the American Chamber of Commerce and the Investment Company Institute (ICI). She married her soulmate, Richard DeRose, in 1972 and moved to Vienna, VA, where they started a family. Judy was an active member of the community in Vienna and McLean while raising their two children. She later returned to work in proposal management for a government contractor. Judy is best known for her kindness and compassion and regularly opened her home to others, always putting family and friends first. Judy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard; her daughter Sarah and her husband Alex; her son Rich and his wife Liv; five beautiful grandchildren; her brother David Van Patten; and many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Van Patten. Judy will be celebrated with a memorial service on February 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. A service in the USNA Chapel will be followed by a lunch reception in the Midway & Coral Sea banquet room. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
