Joyce F. Lange CHARLOTTE - Joyce F. Lange, 86, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House Southminster surrounded by family. She was born on January 30, 1930, in Cooperstown, North Dakota, to Adolph and Muriel (Thorn) Frigaard. Ms. Lange graduated from the University of Montana, Missoula where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, with a BA in Home Economics and Retailing. Upon graduation she moved to San Francisco. She later moved to France and worked as a civilian employee of the Army and NATO for three years. Returning to the states, she married Raymond Lange and had two children, Karen (King) and David Lange. They lived in St. Louis, Dallas, New York and Chicago before settling in Charlotte. She volunteered with the schools, PTA and cultural arts. Before retirement Joyce was the Wine and Beer Manager for Harris Teeter Morrocroft. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, travel, her family, and anything that would put her in touch with good books, art and history. Joyce's giving spirit also included making delicious meals, which she delivered, to her friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Lorene Frigaard, and her aunt and uncle Wendell and Eunice Wichmann. Joyce is survived by her children, Karen King and husband Gordon of Newport, RI; David Lange of Charlotte; grandchildren Jacob and David Lange Jr. of Charlotte; Sophia Lange of New York, NY; cousins Kathy (Wichmann) Cathell of Phoenix, MD and Wayne Wichmann of Williamsburg, VA; and nieces Sandy Frigaard Pack of Meridian, ID and Terri Frigaard of Carlsbad, CA. There will be no services, as per Joyce's preference. Joyce will be laid to rest in Anaconda, Montana at a later date.
