Joy Archer Hunt, 85, of Tyler, went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully, April 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Stewart Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Roberts officiating. A private family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Hunt was born September 8, 1931 in Tom Green County to Maude Victoria and Walter E. Archer. Joy graduated from San Angelo High School and attended San Angelo Business College. A longtime resident of Tyler, Mrs. Hunt was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler Petroleum Wives Club, past president of New Century Literary Club, and a member of the Board of Directors of Young Audiences. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Grady Hunt; her parents, six siblings; and an infant great-grandson. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Dwight Hunt (Marilyn), of Peoria, Arizona, Greg Hunt (Jana) of Flint; stepson, Vernon Hunt Jr., of Duncan, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Susan Hunt, of Austin, Jonathan Hunt (Kacie), of Round Rock, Valerie Goforth (Kade), of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Justin Hunt (Allison), of Fort Worth, David Hunt (Sasha), of Flint; step-granddaughter, Amanda Cisneros (Pete), of Duncan, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Justin Hunt, Jonathan Hunt, David Hunt and Kade Goforth. If desired, contributions can be made in honor of Joy to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation.
