Joseph P. "Joe" Stelpflug
Joseph P. "Joe" Stelpflug, age 24, of Potosi, WI, was called home suddenly at 5:28 a.m., on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the University of Wisconsin Madison, surrounded by his loving family. To honor Joe's life, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
Joe was born on November 23, 1991, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Gary and Chris (Heiring) Stelpflug.
In his early years, Joe would discover the value of intelligence, energetically grasping the day, and the joys of working the farm. Whether it was planting the crops, bringing in the harvest, or a cold winter's night bottle feeding; Joe would find a true inner satisfaction which only comes from the gift of tending to God's creation. When his chores were completed, and the work for the day was done, Joe would eagerly jump on the nearest 4 wheeler and happily blaze some new trails if the worn ones just weren't fulfilling his thirst for the open air. Joe would also enjoy many carefree evenings listening to his favorite rock-n-roll beneath the stars while hanging out with his friends at the camper. Unfortunately, none of the worlds problems would truly be solved during these gatherings, but an honest effort would always be put forth and later in life all involved would discover that the memories which remain would prove to be the real treasure. Joe would also endeavor in a little horsepower, and driving skills, challenge on the track from time to time. It was not uncommon to witness him venturing down Highway 20, on his way to Earlville, in his 1970 Fairlane which was about to be redlined with an adrenaline induced smile placed firmly upon his face. Joe was not all work and play though; an occasional trip to the Caribbean with his family, or an impromptu drive to Florida, where never out of the question when Joe was willing to reap a little of the fruits of his labors. Sadly, Joey would only get to spend 25 years here with us. His light would shine brightly, swift and true and his trail would be an absolute adventure throughout his earthly journey. He has been called home much to early, and peace from this unrelenting sorrow and pain seems beyond impossible today. But thankfully we believe that in time we'll capture more and more of the wonderful memories of Joe passing through our minds each hour, and we have faith that we will all see him again one day in an absolute state of perfection with all of us free from the flaws of a much too broken mortal world.
