He graduated from Germantown High School. He was proud to have served his country as a World War II Army veteran as an infantry soldier who fought in the European theatre and the historic Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, and served on the Upper Dublin Parks and Recreation Board. He enjoyed a variety of passions in life, including spending time with his family, traveling, woodworking, oil painting, collecting and reading historical books, collecting transfer ware, fishing, and collecting antiques and researching family history.
