Joseph Spear Joseph (Joe) Spear March 15, 1936 to October 15, 2016 and long-time resident of Pleasant Hope, Missouri. After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Joe passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved at his home in Pleasant Hope. Joe was born and raised in Louisburg, Missouri. He was the youngest of six children born to the late J.E. and Nora Spear and was the beloved husband of Judith (Judy) Spear for 57 years. Joe is survived by his son Joseph (Joey) and his wife Karen of Poulsbo, Washington; his daughter Jeanne' Losurdo and her husband John of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; his four grandchildren, Paul Ackels, Joseph Spear and his wife Holly, Stephanie Doutt and her husband Aaron and Tyler Spear; and his five great grandchildren, Clarissa, Oliver, Olivia, Kaitlynn and Elijah. After graduating from Halfway High School, in 1954, Joe joined the United States Navy and served in ships, submarines and shore stations in exotic places around the world. Joe would serve over 30 years in the United States Navy before settling with his family Judy, Jeanne' and Joey in Pleasant Hope, Missouri. In 1991, Joe joined the Providence Missionary Baptist Church. This would be a turning point in his life. Joe's faith in God was always strong and he would continue to strengthen his beliefs leading to an ordained ministry. Joe would share the word of God throughout the region and his last congregation would be with the members of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Joe touched the lives of many people through his devotion, faith and generosity. He maintained his sense of humor all the way to the end. Services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 10:00 am in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel . Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's. Services under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
