In memory of
Broomfield resident Joseph A. "Joe" Giattini, died Wednesday October 5, at the Broomfield Skilled Nursing Center. He was 91. He was born Joseph Anthony Giattini on October 29, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Amelia (Maltese) and James A. Giattini. He graduated from high school and attended college. He was a former member of the Queens Elks Lodge # 878, before serving his country in the United States Navy. He served as a Radioman 3rd Class from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On November 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Mazzanobile in New York City. Joe served 28 years with the New York City Fire Department, retiring in 1981. He and Kathy moved to Colorado in 1989. Preceding Joe in death were his parents, and his sister Nina Wetzler. Those family members left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Kathleen, his children; James Giattini and his wife Sue, Emily Hollister and her husband Gary, and Catherine Clegg and her husband Gene. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Danielle Giattini, Joseph Hollister and his wife Kara, Matthew Giattini and his wife Heather, and Marcy Snow and her husband Daniel. Surviving great-grandchildren are; Gracie Winkler, Benjamin McAda, Maddox Giattini, Brooks Giattini, Nolan Snow, and Peter Hollister. He loved, and was loved by, many other family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church on Friday, October 14 at 11:30 A.M. A Rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M. preceding the Mass. Burial will be private. A memorial fund has been established in the name of "Fireman Joe", and may be sent in his memory to the, North Metro Fire Dist. #81, 1275 W Midway Blvd, Broomfield, CO 80020.
