Joseph G. Gamble
Joseph D. Gamble, 91, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Meadville Medical Center. Mr. Gamble was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Samuel and Lillie (Postlewait) Gamble. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances H. (Harwick) Gamble. Joseph was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Niagara River Masonic Lodge No. 785. He was retired from Bell Aircraft International, where he worked as a large equipment mechanic and was a member of the Operating Engineers No. 66. He also worked for the Meadville Medical Center. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening. Joseph is survived by two daughters, Sandy Gamble of Meadville and Linda Jacobs of Monroe, North Carolina; a grandson, Christopher Gamble; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Frances, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harland Guy and Merle Gamble; and four sisters, Violet Mae Aul, Sara Jane Koreny, Goldie Ruth McFadden and Josephine Eleanor Douglas. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Joseph Buterbaugh officiating. Interment is private for family.
