DeCHIARA--Joseph Michael, of Jackson Heights, Queens. Passed away April 15, 2017. Born in New York City August 28, 1929 to Michael and Rosalie DeChiara. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by Edith DeChiara, his wife of 58 years, his children Michael, Peter and Laurie, their spouses, and his five beautiful granddaughters. He studied at the City College of New York, earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Pratt Institute and a Masters of Science in City Planning at Columbia University. He was an accomplished architect, and co-founder of the firm Marlo and DeChiara in Manhattan. He also taught at Columbia, Pratt, Cooper Union, New York Institute of Technology and the State University of New York. He edited the widely recognized "Time- Saver Standards" series of architectural reference books. He was loved by friends and family and will be deeply missed by all.
