Baldo, Joseph Nelson Joseph Nelson "Papa" Baldo, 56, of Phoenix passed away on October 11, 2016. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He was a beloved papa to his five grandchildren and loved them dearly. He is survived by his wife Rosemary; his son Matt, his wife Brittney, and their sons Rustin and Eli; his daughter Courtney, her husband Bret, and their sons James, Jaxon, and Jordan. He was born in East Rochester, New York on March 7, 1960. He moved to Phoenix in 1987 and made his home here with a strong community of close friends that became family. Joe was a gregarious, larger than life presence who was as compassionate as he was fun. He was a deeply faithful Christian with a strong commitment to the church. His faith guided his life, and he was a part of a strong community with his Phoenix bible study group. He was known as a "gentle giant," a wrestler in high school and college and coach to many children throughout his life. He was a graduate of State University of New York, Brockport. Joe opened his home to his friends old and new, always providing a wise word of guidance along with a hearty Italian meal or his specialty, Buffalo wings. He was a beloved employee at the Jewish Community Center, Phoenix Country Club, Scottsdale Bible Church and Camelback Golf Club. He loved being on the golf course and enjoyed having a good glass of Chianti with his family and friends that he cared for deeply. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m. at Redemption Church Tempe at 2150 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282.
