Joseph E. Bagent NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Joseph E. Bagent, 86, of Newark, will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016, with Fr. William Hritsko as celebrant. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Bagent, a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, died at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born in Newark, Ohio on October 23, 1929 to the late John and Bertha (Mentzer) Bagent. Joe served in the United States Navy and was also a Korean War Army Veteran. He worked for 37 years at Owens Corning Fiberglas, and following his retirement, worked for 18 years at Boring Sheridan Funeral Home. Joe was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 13379, Past Commander of the American Legion Post 285, Past President of Newark Model Railroad Club, and member and volunteer of the Licking County Genealogical Society. He also coached the Walter Chevrolet little league baseball team for many years. His loving charm and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Doris (Anderson) Bagent; his daughters, Debra "Day" J. Jeffers (Gene Bastic) and Tonya E. (Marc) Camp; his grandchildren, Scott J. (Amee) Rine; Katherine A. Camp (Scott Gillig) and Abigail M. (Larry) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Seth J. and Zachery J. Rine, and Brayden O. Gillig; his sister, Ethel Becker; sister-in-law, Carol (Richard) Humphreys; foster daughter Deanne (Jamie) Kelly; and foster granddaughter, Kayla Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, father-in-law and mother-in-law, niece; and foster grandson. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., Friday, October 21, 2016 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.
