Jon Carl Dinkel October 11, 2016 Jon Carl Dinkel, 72, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away October 11, 2016 due to complications resulting from an unfortunate fall while camping with his wife Marsha in North Carolina. He was born to the late Carl Edwin Dinkel and Mary Louise Dinkel on September 10, 1944 in Delaware, Ohio. Jon is survived by his wife Marsha Marie, his children, Eric Jon Dinkel and Kristin Leigh Isley, his 5 grandchildren, Joseph Carl Dinkel, Andrew Jon Dinkel, Jesse Kenneth Dinkel, Jack Kenneth Potts and Millie Kate Larson Potts, all of Fort Myers, brothers Kim Roger Dinkel (Vicki), Jeffrey Alan Dinkel, stepson Byron "Beau" Stout, sister-in-law Hali McLaughlin, nephew Matthew Kim Dinkel (Leslie), and niece Michele Elizabeth Johnson (Jason). He graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1962 and attended The University of Florida. In 1967 Jon joined the Army Reserve proudly serving in the Special Forces until 1973. In 1966, Jon began a career in banking as a computer programmer with The First National Bank of Fort Myers, rising to the rank of Executive Vice President. Continuing on this career path, he was part of a group of local businessmen, organizing and establishing The National Bank of Lee County where he served as its' President. Jon had a passion for the outdoors and spent much time enjoying fishing the waters of Pine Island Sound and spending lobster season in the Florida Keys with his children and family. His interest in weather and watching storms as well as predicting them was an endearing trait to all his family and friends. He was an avid reader and a huge history buff, voraciously reading history, fiction, and everything in between often finishing a book in one day. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, family and friends including his dear friend Scott Larson and his adored German Shephard Zena. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 3:00pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 3595 Broadway in Fort Myers. The family will receive friends at the home of Kim and Vicki Dinkel following the service at 10080 San Pablo, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
