John Rudolph Baker
April 5, 1921-Oct. 14, 2016 Mr. John Rudolph Baker, age 95, of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at Pinecrest Baptist Church with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Bart McMillan and the Rev. Stephen Wood will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Baker was born on April 5, 1921, in Gainesville, Ga., to the late John Preston Baker and Cordie Elliot Baker. He served in the United States Army for four years. He was a retired brick mason from Baker and Baker Construction Company and was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ruby L. Baker. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Joanne Baker of Gainesville, and Tommy and Carol Baker of Oakwood; his sister, Virginia Fulford of Athens, Ga.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
