Bryson, Johnella Ponder-Wimberly, 65, passed away on February 13, 2017. Born in Louisville, KY, on January 27, 1952. "Johnnie" as she was affectionately called, graduated from DuPont Manual High School, received a bachelor degree from the University of Louisville, and attained her master's degree from Spalding University. She was a master level social worker for multiple agencies in Jefferson County. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Ella Rose (Brown) Ponder; brothers, Stanley Ponder and Theodore Brown. Survivors include husband, Kent Lamont Bryson Sr.; son, David Keith Wimberly Jr.; grandchildren, Davonna Rose Collins and Thomas Richard Fields; sisters, Emily Ponder-Tutson, Bertha Ponder-Bolden; and a host of nieces and nephews; family and friends who loved her. Visitation will be held at A.D. Porter and Sons, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 1300 West Chestnut Street from 6-9 p.m. The funeral will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Cable Baptist Church, 314 South Wenzel Street, Louisville, KY, 40204.
