John A. Wittig
John A. Wittig, Shelton, Conn., died Tuesday at Einstein Medical Center, Montgomery, after an illness. His wife, the former Mary Fulton, died in 1995. Born in Waymart, son of the late LeRoy and Mary Elizabeth Enslin Wittig, John was a hardworking man dedicated to his family and friends. He spent much of his time during his youth working on the family farm. He had worked in communications for the local telephone company after serving in the Korean War with the Army. Upon marrying Mary Fulton, they moved to Shelton, where John worked at Avco Lycoming Engine Plant until retirement. John was a beloved father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, gardening and working on his farm during retirement. Surviving are a son, John and wife, Mary Ellen, Harleysville; grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa and Kathryn; a sister, Blanche Kobeski, New Jersey; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter and Martin Wittig; and sisters, Dora Ryan and Lorraine Lee. Funeral services will be Saturday at noon in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Interment, East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
