John Taylor Waggoner Redding, CA 1933 - 2016 John Taylor Waggoner, 86, went to be with his Lord on Oct. 8, 2016 at Copper Ridge Rehabilitation Hospital of an illness. John was born on Sept. 16, 1933 in Little Rock, AR to John F. and Avis E. Waggoner. John's career in the United States Air Force lasted 29 years, 8 months and 21 days. John retired in 1981 at the rank of Chief Master Sargent (E-9). The majority of his career was in the communications field. He served his country in various countries around the world including: Japan, Libya, The Philippines, Vietnam, Germany and Greece. As well as many bases in the United States, including Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA where he met his wife of 56 years, who was also serving there, Vivian (Vicki). John is survived by his wife Vivian (Vicki), his two children; Theresa M. Parker, her husband Ralph of North Highlands, CA and John W. Waggoner, his wife Dawn of Elk Grove, CA. Four grandchildren, Derek Parker, Michael Parker and his wife Haley, John D. Waggoner and Leanne Waggoner. Three great grandchildren, Kacie, Blaine and Geoffery. His sisters Barbara Demchak, husband Mike and Jerry Beth Robinson, her husband Cecil. John was preceded in death by his parents John F. and Avis E. and sister Mary Jo Crain and her husband James, and many good friends. John will be missed by all who knew his sense of humor and willingness to help others. John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Redding for many, many years until illness prevented participations. He served as Grand Knight and District Deputy. Assisted in cooking many breakfasts and other meals; including the Christmas Day Dinner. There will be a viewing on Sun., Oct 16, 2016 from 1-4pm at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, 2655 Eureka Way, Redding. The celebration of life will be on Mon., Oct. 17, 2016, 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2040 Walnut Ave., Redding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery on Eureka Way, Redding. The family requests no flowers, and suggest donations to the Knights of Columbus Redding Council #3978, St. Joseph Elementary School or a charity of your choice. Please sign the guestbook at
