TUTTLE, JOHN A. John A. Tuttle, 90, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. John was born September 26, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph and Lucia (Grande) Tuttle. John proudly served our country in the United States Army as a paratrooper. After his service in the Army, John studied art at the Ad-Art School, Simboli Art, and Carnegie Tech, and as an apprentice under many Pittsburgh artists. He spent the final years of his career as a Package and Graphic Design Director for Libbey Glass in Toledo, OH, retiring in 1992. John was an award winning artist and a member of the Toledo Artist's Club, Spectrum, Ohio Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, and Grand Valley Artists. John spent much of his free time painting, and continued to do so in his final days, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful watercolor paintings. John was most proud of his family. He married Norma Nichols on February 13, 1952 and they spent 55 wonderful years together. He is survived by his children, Sandra Swenson (Dan Hunt) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Joseph (Karen) Tuttle of Bowling Green, OH; grandchildren, Kimberly Swenson (Erik Peterson) of Tampa, FL, Kerry (Heather) Tuttle of Port Clinton, OH and Elizabeth (Matthew) Lauck of Wayne, OH; and Sister-in-Law Mary (John) McCann of Moon Township, PA. John was preceded in death by his wife, brother, Joseph (Joan) Tuttle, and his parents. John's family would like to thank Clark Retirement Community and Emmanuel Hospice for the kind and gentle care John received. Per John's wishes, services will be private.
