TUSCALOOSA – John Burgin Smith, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2017 at DCH Regional Medical Center due to a massive heart attack. Viewing and graveside service will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa. Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. John grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. He was employed with Bruno's supermarkets for over 40 years and worked for Winn Dixie supermarkets for three years. John was full of life and a man that lit u the room by just walking in and a great story teller. He loved hunting and hanging out with his friends. He was a devoted father and great provider and loved his grandchildren unconditionally. He was preceded in death by his father, John Duncan Smith; mother, Nellie Burgin Smith; and brother, Charles Alexander Smith. Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Smith Jarvis and son-in-law, Timothy Lee Jarvis; son, Kyle Burgin Smith; grandchildren, Frances Kathrynn Jarvis, Jackson Alexander Jarvis and his beloved pet and companion, Gabby Rae. Pallbearers will be Brett Green, Howell Jackson, Brian Smith, Billy Moore, Phillip Brewer and Justin Parker. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenny Seally.
