John J. Palombo
John J. "Jack" Palombo, 87, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born April 15, 1929, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Nicholas and Mary Vendemmia Palombo. Prior to his retirement, Jack was employed by Vevius Crucible and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and board of the Penns Woods Civic Association, and ran bingo for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Haluck Palombo, in 2015; brother, Anthony Palombo; and sister, Mary Louise Silvio. He is survived by his two sons, John (Sally), and Anthony (Darlene) Palombo; daughter, Sharon Oliver; six grandchildren, Becky Kitta, Jaime Derbish, Stephanie Ference, Mark Palombo, and Christopher and Caylyn Oliver; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Shea and Tanner Kitta, and Colton and Connor Ference. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon, with Father Len Stoviak officiating.
