John O. Oxford
John O. Oxford Jr. 75, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016 with his family by his side. John was born on June 10, 1941 to John O. and Myrtis Oxford in Ruston, La. He joined the U. S. Air Force in March, 1960. He married his High School sweetheart Sandra in January, 1961. They had three children. The Air Force would take John and family to Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK in 1975, He retired from the Air Force in June, 1980. He then went to work for FAA and then on to the Municipality of Anchorage as the Payroll Supervisor until his retirement in June, 1994. John was lucky to find love again after his wife passed away. He married his second love Sharon Kirby in February, 2000. In 2003 John and Sharon relocated to Woodland, Wa. after they were both tired of the long winters in Alaska. John was a big inspiration to many people. When he gave his love he gave unconditionally. John enjoyed his life fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. His favorite travel spot was San Diego, Ca. John is survived by his wife Sharon Oxford, Woodland, Wa. Daughters Janet (Jud) Simpson, Chugiak, Ak. and Pamela (Steven) Johnson, Lake Stevens, Wa. Step-sons Bryan Kirby, Anchorage, Ak., James (Jennifer) Kirby, Battle Ground, Wa. and Eldon Kirby, Vancouver, Wa. Grandchildren Bryan (Amanda) Johnson, Lake Stevens, Wa., Ally Johnson, Lake Stevens, Wa., Brooke Kirby, Battle Ground, Wa. and Blake Kirby, Battle Ground, Wa. Great-Grand daughter Journey Rai Johnson, Lake Stevens, Wa. He is proceeded in death by his father John O. Oxford Sr., mother Myrtis Luther, bother Donald Oxford, his wife Sandra Oxford, son Jack Oxford and his grandson Danny Raye Oxford. Johns ashes will be laid to rest at Anchorage Municipal Cemetery on June 10, 2017.
