John Francis McGuire went home to Jesus on October 15, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 12, 1926 in Denver, CO. to Helen and Philip McGuire. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served as a medic. Upon an honorable discharge, he attended Regis College and he met the love of his life Vina Sebastian, a nurse at St. Anthony School of Nursing. Following two years at Regis, he transferred to Catholic University in Washington D.C. and graduated with a degree in Architecture. Upon return to Denver he worked in architecture, eventually becoming a partner in Langhart & McGuire. During that time he served as president of the Colorado Chapter of the AIA and designed numerous projects in Colorado. In the late 1960's he become the director of Denver Metro Fair Housing. In 1980 he retruned to practice with the Archdiocese of Phoenix as director of buildings and properties. He returned to Denver in 1989 and worked as manager of properties and real estate for the Archdiocese of Denver until retirement and then continued as a consultant. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vina, his children Claudia McGuire, Cynthia Cronan (Terry), Thomas McGuire, Paul McGuire (Barb) and Vincent McGuire; grandchildren Luv Dobins (Robert), Kody Cronan (Jessica), Joy Simpson (David), Jevon Cronan, Brenna McGuire (Tony) and Lauren McGuire; great grandchildren Chris Dobbins, Nicholas Dobbins, Margo Cronan, Melina Elger and Micah Cronan. He was preceded in death by his daughter Christine McGuire Ridgeway. He loved his Faith, his family and his work. Visitation, Fri., Oct. 21st at 5:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM, both at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary. Funeral Mass, Sat. Oct. 22nd at 10:00 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church.
