John Paul Martin Jr.
Martin, John Paul Jr. MENLO PARK, Calif. John Paul Martin Jr., 71, passed away on October 7, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 25, 1945, in Hudson to John Paul Martin Sr. and Virginia Grossman Martin. He attended grade school at St. Mary's Academy, later graduating from St. Bridget's Academy in Richmond, Va. He was a 1962 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and also a graduate of the Albany College of Pharmacy. He earned a master's degree in health systems management from Union College's Graduate Management Institute. John married Nancy Freligh Martin in 1974, and they lived for more than 30 years in Delmar where they raised their two children, Jennifer and David. John worked as a pharmacist at Albany Medical Center, Leonard Hospital and Ellis Hospital for 37 years. He was for many years active with the Northeastern New York Iroquois Hospital Association, where he served as chairman of the Pharmacy Committee and member of the Professional Advisory Board. John coached soccer for many years for the Bethlehem Soccer Club and also was involved with the Capital District Youth Soccer Organization. John and Nancy retired in 2006 and moved to Menlo Park, to be close to their first grandchild. John is survived by his wife, Nancy Freligh Martin; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Martin Block and Ueyn Block of Menlo Park, and his son and daughter-in-law, David Martin and Kara Gavin of West Hartford, Conn. He is also survived by four grandchildren whom he loved very much, Jonas and Evan Block and Kayleigh and Brendan Martin. John was a courageous man who always placed family first. His rosy cheeks, infectious smile and incredible hugs were a gift to us all. His family and friends will forever hold the memories they created together close to their hearts.
