John F. Maroney
Waterbury - Mr. John F. Maroney, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 15, 2016.
Mr. Maroney was born in Waterbury on December 12, 1933 a son of the late John F. and Ruth (Steimley) Maroney. He was retired after working for many years in the restaurant business as the former owner of My Brother's Place in Naugatuck and Maroney's Restaurant in Waterbury and also formerly worked as a Sheriff for the State of Connecticut.
Mr. Maroney proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Maroney is survived by two nephews: John P. Maroney of Watertown and Edward R. Maroney of Harrisburg, PA, a grand niece: Amanda Sayers of PA, a grand nephew: Tyler Jameson Maroney and many cousins. He was predeceased by a brother: Edward Maroney and two sisters: Ruth Maroney and Maryann Maroney.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday October 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
