John William "Billy" Levins
John William "Billy" Levins John William "Billy" Levins, 71, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, October 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with a long illness. His devotion to his wife and firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Billy was born to his late mother, Mary Louise (Wilson) Fine, on June 8, 1945 and was the oldest of eight (8) children. Billy married his best friend and loving wife, Mary Jo Levins, of Tallahassee on September 12, 1963, they were married for 53 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Woodville First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. He loved sharing God's word and led many to Christ over the years. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. He was a 1962 graduate of Florida High School. Billy worked in law enforcement with the Tallahassee Police Department; Leon County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Raymond Hamlin and Sheriff Eddie Boone; David Barrett and Associates for 18 years as a private investigator. In addition, he owned and operated a private investigation practice - John W. Levins Investigation over a period of 20 years. Billy was predeceased by his brother , Harvey James "Dusty" Yost, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; He is survived by his sister, Sheila Brown of Southmayde, Texas; sister, Katherine Ballard of Dallas, Texas; brother, Gary Yost of Sherman, Texas; sister, Elisha Williams of Howe, Texas; sister, Melody Phelps of Durant, Oklahoma; and sister, Deanna Smith of Sherman, Texas. The family will receive friends at Woodville First Baptist Church for visitation one hour before the home going celebration service which will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Woodville First Baptist Church, located 9500 Woodville Highway, Tallahassee, Florida. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery. Pastor Trent Gann will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32311 (850) 942-2929, or, Woodville First Baptist Church.
