John P. Leonard Union carpenter and avid fisherman, of Jackson, 63 John P. Leonard, 63, of Jackson Twp., N.J., passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at home in the arms of his wife, Malai. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, April 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. John was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and raised in Cranford, N.J., settling in Jackson Twp. 17 years ago. He was the maintenance manager for Care One in Jackson Township for the last five years. In addition, he was a journeyman carpenter in Local Union No. 253 and was an avid fisherman. John was predeceased by his father, John Leonard. He is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Malai; his children, John Leonard of Metuchen, N.J., Annie Leonard of Scotch Plains, N.J.; his mother, Dorothy Leonard of Cranford; his sisters, Jacqueline Leonard of Chatham, Mass., Nancy Cunningham and her husband, Les of Cranford, Megan Miller and her husband, Craig of Cranford, and Jennifer Leonard and her wife, Kim of Weehawkin, N.J.; his five grandchildren; and by his step-children, Michelle, Eddie and Matthew.
