John Earl "Jack" LATTA
LATTA, John Earl "Jack" (Age 93) Was born on July 1, 1923 to Harry and Lena Latta; passed away on October 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Jack graduated from North Central High School in 1942. Thereafter, he enlisted with the Army Air Corp and became a bomber pilot, flying B-24s in the South Pacific. Jack flew 45 missions before coming home to Spokane, where he remained a life-long resident. Jack married Pat Courser on October 11, 1947 and they had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Jack joined the Spokane Police Department in 1951, where he served for 30 years as a motorcycle officer and retired with the distinction of Badge No. 1. Jack is survived by his wife, Pat, son Kit (Laurie) Latta of Lopez Island, WA, son Lance (Diane) Latta of Mica, WA, grandson Kyle (Jodi) Latta of Lake Oswego, OR, granddaughters Marcy (Paul Farrell) Latta of Seattle, WA, and Heather Latta of Spokane Valley, WA and five great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Lucille (Bill) Schatz, Faye (Ashley) Chapman and Ruth (Joe) Peterson. A private graveside ceremony is scheduled.
