He retired from the military as a decorated officer and went on to enjoy successful careers in real estate, property management and engineering, finally retiring from BF Goodrich Aerospace in 1998. John was married to his wife for almost sixty years. They both loved the outdoors and made Black Forest, Colorado their home for the past twenty-eight years. John was a member of the MOAA, St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was active in The Gideons. He was a devoted father, who loved his wife and family. John lived life his way but will always be remembered for his sincere kindness, his ever-present smile and his positive attitude. His interests were his church, football, wood- working, golf and his animals. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; his four daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Ybarra, Dianna Kite, Jodie (Ryan) Bertram, and Janessa Kite; three wonderful grandchildren, Cassie, Nick and Ashlynn; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Jonah.
