John J. "Jack" Keaveney
Keaveney, John J. "Jack" John J Keaveney, a 52 year New City resident, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017. Jack was 84 years old. The third of six children of the late William and Jane Keaveney, he was born on August 19,1932 on Manhattan's West Side. Jack was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War, receiving 2 Bronze Stars and several other military honors for his bravery. After returning from the war he met the love of his life, Theresa McQuade who he then married on September 3,1957. Jack was a longtime member of New York City Plumbers Union Local #1.Jack worked for Mac Felder Plumbing in Manhattan for over 40 years as a Plumber and General Manager. Jack embraced life; he lived everyday to the fullest, always looking forward to his next adventure. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jack loved and was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his devoted Wife Theresa, his children Kathy Campbell (Doug), Maureen Burke, Joanne Keaveney, and John W Keaveney (Mary),his grandchildren Megan Smit (Jeremy), Kara Lacy, Sean Lacy (Joanna), Ryan Lacy (Katie), Thomas Burke, Brian Burke, Katie Keaveney, Kiera Keaveney, and John T Keaveney, and his great-grand children Emily and Mason Smit and Rhea Lacy. He is also survived by his brother William Keaveney (Mary), sister Jeannie Morrissey and many other nieces nephews and friends. Jack is predeceased by his parents, his brother Br. Malachy DePaul Keaveney, and sisters Judy Curran and Patricia Donnelly. He will also be greatly missed by his canine companion "Buddy". Visitation will be held Tuesday April 18 from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street New City NY, 10956. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 10am at Saint Anthonys Parish Church, Nanuet NY followed by interment at St Anthonys Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hudson Valley Honor Flight, PO Box 375, Walden NY 12586.
