MURRAYVILLE - John Allan Dietz, 67, of Murrayville, passed away Oct. 14, 2016, at the Springfield Memorial Medical Center following a long illness and is now taking his victory lap in Heaven with his Lord. He was born, July 10, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Walter L. and Virginia L. (Frost) Dietz. He married Beverly K. Reid, May 21, 1977, in Murrayville. Surviving is his wife, Bev, of Murrayville; daughter Heather Dietz of Maywood; and brother-in-law Rodney Reid of Murrayville. He was preceded in death by one son, Kyle Dietz; and one sister, Kay Hall. John was a member of the Roodhouse First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a retired heavy equipment operator out of Operating Engineers Local 965 of Springfield. He was a Murrayville volunteer firemen for many years. John enjoyed street rods, muscle cars, NASCAR, stock car racing, and riding motorcycles with Bev. His life was dedicated to helping other which sent him on mission trips to Honduras, Hatti, and Mexico. Most of all, he was a loving husband and father and cherish the time he spent with his family. Bev and Heather would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, calls, and acts of kindness during John's extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Roodhouse First Baptist Church, with interment in the Murrayville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Daws Family Funeral Home in South Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Roodhouse First Baptist Church.
