CARTER (Johnson), Joanne Elizabeth Joanne Elizabeth Johnson Carter (Jo Beth) of Georgetown Texas died October 12, 2016. She was born February 4, 1941 in Yorktown Texas. The third child of the Rev. John Cadien Johnson and his wife Elizabeth Ellyson Johnson both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Travis Carter in 2003. Jo Beth grew up in Graham Texas and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She married Mack Osborne of Lubbock in 1961. To this union a son and daughter were born. At the end of this marriage in 1973 she returned to her ancestral home in Georgetown. She was employed with Westinghouse until her 1976 marriage to Travis Carter of Austin. He owned the Catfish Barn Restaurant in Oak Hill and the family moved there until his retirement in 1984 when they returned to Georgetown. Jo Beth went to work for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. She retired in 2004. She was a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church having been a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown which had her great great grandfather CAD Clamp as one of its earliest members and her great grandfather Rev. John McMurray as it's minister when the present building was built. Her son Chris Osborne and wife Tricia and their two children Emalee and Carter of Georgetown, and her daughter Melissa Wilson of Georgetown and her four children Jacob of Dallas, Rachel and Joshua of Georgetown, and Rebecca of Bonham Texas survive her. Two brothers J. C. Johnson and wife Linda and family of Georgetown, and Bill Johnson and wife Ruth Ann and family of Salt Lake City, Utah also survive her. She is also survived by a host of kinsman. She considered family her greatest blessing in life. Special Thanks goes to Dr. David George and staff of Texas Oncology Cancer Center. Their care enabled her to spend extra years with her beloved family. Thanks also goes to Georgetown Living for the care she received during her final few months. Memorial Gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Georgetown Texas for the Emergency Relief Fund or Music Ministries. Visitation will be on Friday, October 21, 2016 at The Gabriels Funeral Home, 393 North I-35 Frontage Rd, Georgetown Texas from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Services for Jo Beth will be on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:30AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 703 S. Church Street, Georgetown Texas. Presiding over the services will be long time family friends, Dr. Michael Roberts and Dr. David Evans. Graveside services will immediately follow at IOOF Cemetery. Pall Bearers: Jim Wilson, Walter Kirton, Jim Darilek, Jon Darilek, Randy Stump and Philip Johnson. Jo Beth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and five generations of her family members.
