EATON — Joann (May) Bruns, 79 of Eaton, passed Jan. 5, 2016, after a brief illness. She had been a resident of New Paris for many years. Joann was born July 26, 1937, to Arthur and Rachel May, of Liberty, Indiana, who preceded her in death. She is survived by husband, Robert Bruns. On July 6, 2017, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by son Stephen Bruns and wife Lisa Lange Bruns, of Eaton, and their children, Andrew Bruns, of San Francisco, Molly Bruns of Washington, D.C., and daughter, Susan Schiff and her husband, Scott Schiff, of Atlanta, Georgia and their children, Sara Janovitz, and her husband Scott Janovitz, of Atlanta, Georgia, Stuart Schiff, of Denver, Colorado, Spencer Schiff, of Atlanta, Georgia and Sydney Schiff of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters Norma Smith, and her husband Robin Smith, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and Joyce Matthews and her husband James Matthews, of Albuquerque, and several nieces and nephews. Joann was employed for many years in the housewares department of Knollenberg's Department Store, in Richmond, Indiana, where she became friends with many co-workers and customers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Paris and was active with the Preble County Historical Society. Funeral services were to be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris. Interment was to be in College Corner Cemetery in College Corner, Indiana.
