Joan K. Penn
Joan K. (Sherrick) Penn, 84, of Scottdale, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. Joan was born Dec. 3, 1932, at Kingview, Upper Tyrone Township, a daughter of the late Will George and Dorcas (Haines) Sherrick. She was married to Robert E. Penn, who passed away Feb. 17, 2004. Joan was devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was previously employed as an assembler at the former Volkswagen of America plant in New Stanton and was a longtime and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale. Joan graduated from Scottdale High School, Class of 1950 and held an associate degree in interior design. Joan enjoyed traveling and dealing in antiques, especially glassware. Joan will be sadly missed by her loving family: her son, Tim R. Penn and his wife, Brenda, of Chardon, Ohio; her two grandchildren, Charles Penn and his wife, Monica, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Andrea Penn, of Willoughby, Ohio; and her two great-grandchildren, Mason and Riley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert H. Penn, on July 2, 2003; and her brother, Charles Sherrick. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Kathy Barnhart and Pastor Tom Shirer co-officiating.
