In memory of
Jim A. Rutledge
Jim A. Rutledge Resident of Hayward Jim Rutledge passed away unexpectedly on Wed., September 21st, at the age of 70. He joins his beloved wife, Barbara, who passed one year prior after a short battle with cancer. The oldest of three brothers, Jim was born in N.J. and raised in upstate New York. After serving in the air force, Jim relocated to California and worked for several companies in collections and accounts receivable, most recently the western clothing manufacturer Ariat. Jim was very active in the local community. He was a staunch patriot and a fiercely loyal Stanford football fan, and was rarely seen without his trademark Stanford hat and flag pin. He loved the game of golf and played regularly with his friends. Both Jim and Barbara were dedicated animal lovers and advocates, having fostered and owned many dogs and cats over the course of their lives, in addition to volunteering at the Hayward animal shelter for many years. Jim is survived by his three brothers, Lawrence, Thomas, and Donald, his son, Jim, sister-in-law Carol Strawn and her husband Joe, nephews Stephen, Jeffrey, and Joe, and their children and Grandchildren. He also leaves behind many close friends. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward, and will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the ASPCA or the Hayward Animal Shelter. View the online memorial for Jim A. Rutledge
