Mr. Jim Hendrix, age 69, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, October 11, 2016 under the professional care of Hospice at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, but was raised in Statesboro, GA. He left Statesboro at the age of 18 for a career in the United States Air Force. After committing himself for 22 years in the United States Air Force he retired and resided in Niceville, FL for the last 30 years. He also served in Civil Service for 15 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorna Hendrix; children, Lawana Palmer, Dawne and Wesley Hendrix; grandchildren, Cevana and Quintin Palmer; brothers, Samuel and King Hendrix; sister, Mary Hendrix. Jim spent his life in the service of others until being incapacitated by ill health. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road N.E., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. Jim will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Covenant Care Hospice, 220 Eglin Parkway, NE, Ft.
