Jill Jordan, 69, from Rensselaer, Indiana, died peacefully on April 10, 2017 in her Flagstaff home with her beloved son Ryan and sister-in-law (our angel) Anita at her side after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Jill was born in Lafayette, Indiana and raised on a farm in nearby Rensselaer. After college and serving in the Peace Corps in Micronesia, she settled in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she lived and worked for over 40 years. From teaching on the Navajo reservation, to managing her husband's law office, and finally as a family and child advocate at Flagstaff Medical Center, Jill's concerns for education, justice and the safety of children were always at work. Jill, avid soccer mom and skier, fan of bluegrass, mysteries and musical, enjoyed gardening, hiking and guiding family from the Midwest on tours of the Grand Canyon and other national treasures. She also enjoyed traveling and exploring the wonders of this country and abroad. Above all else, she was a dedicated wife to Roy, and mother to Ryan and Zoe. Her family was her greatest joy and accomplishment. Jill is predeceased by her husband, Roy Ward, and parents Carl and Norma Jeanne Jordan and brother Greg Jordan. She is survived by her son, Ryan Ward, and daughter and son-in-law Zoe and Steve Lonetti. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Barry and Anita Jordan, brother Jim Jordan, and extended family and friends, including niece Debbie and spouse Craig Hurst and family of Arizona. Jill was also a beloved aunt who loved her fan club of six nieces and nephews: Jeff (Christy Putman) Jordan, Mark (Heidi Nagel), Toby (Jodi Bishop), Anne (Paul Burge), Logan (Jasmine Bonty), and Alexis (Bertaut Tchise) and 20 great nieces and nephews who say, "she makes the fun last forever." A memorial gathering in Rensselaer will be held in July. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Flagstaff Arboretum, the Museum of Northern Arizona or the American Cancer Society.
