Jerry P. Milionis Organic chemist, credited with 33 patents Jerry P. Milionis, 90, of Monroe Township, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, peacefully at home. Mr. Milionis was born on March 6, 1926, in Manhattan, N.Y., and lived in New York, Connecticut, and the Somerset section of Franklin, N.J., before moving to Monroe Township in 2004. Jerry studied organic chemistry at Purdue University, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1951. He was a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society. On April 9, 1948, Jerry married Grace Theresa Vandervoort, and from 1952 through 1961, Jerry and Grace had two daughters, Ellen and Irene, and one son, Peter. He worked at American Cyanamid as an organic chemist for almost 40 years. As a research chemist during the early part of his career, Dr. Milionis had worked on the development of new compounds and is credited with 33 patents. Jerry was a true family man and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dr. Milionis thought that it was a scientifically proven fact that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were without fault. He is survived by daughter, Ellen Milionis, son-in-law, Charles Hager, and granddaughter, Daisy Hager; daughter, Irene Caruso, son-in-law, Ron Caruso, grandson, Vincent Caruso, granddaughter-in-law, Annie Caruso, and three beautiful great-grandchildren, Dominic, Marilyn and Sonny; son, Peter, and daughter-in-law, Annie, and grandson, Jerry, his namesake. Jerry Milionis was a warm and affectionate person, and was immediately loved by everyone he met, and will be profoundly missed by both family and friends. The family will hold a private entombment later this week. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lester Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg.
