He was 95 years old, born on May 30, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He and his wife, Mae, lived in Brooklyn for many years before they moved to Staten Island more than 50 years ago and lived in a house that he lovingly built. Jerry was a graduate of Pace University with a degree in engineering. He was in the Operating Engineers Union and the Bricklayers Union for over 25 years. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy Construction Battalion (CBs) and fought in World War II in Iwo Jima. Jerry owned Marine Basin Marina with his four brothers and a construction company. He was an avid fisherman, builder, and family man. Many of us had the honor of having him walk us down the aisle. Jerry was a wonderful, happy and loving man. He loved his wife and his family endlessly. He died peacefully and his lasting memories will be cherished forever. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, his sweetheart, Mae Gagliano. Jerry had four brothers and four sisters and is only survived by his sister, Josephine Castronovo.
