TEICH - Jerome, I., age 92, passed away at his home in Bellport, on October 17, 2016. Jerry was born April 17, 1924 in the Bronx, and grew up in the Sheepshead Bay-Manhattan Beach area of Brooklyn, where he lived with his parents Teddy and Nettie and siblings Lester, Harold and Marilyn in a two bedroom apartment. The first of his family to attend college, he graduated with honors from NYU school of Dentistry. He served in the Army in World War II and the Air Force in the Korean War, where he performed dentistry on wounded soldiers. After the service he opened his first orthodontic practice in the first floor of his family's apartment building; later moved to Patchogue to set up his practice and raise his family in the suburbs. He worked as an orthodontist until his late 70's. When not working, Jerry could usually be found "puttering" on one of many projects around the house. His amazing attention to detail was evident in his handiwork. Jerry loved life and till his final days said every day he woke up he was happy to be alive. He will be remembered most for the look of love and pride in his eyes when observing his family. Those who knew him felt his love and generosity palpably. Beloved husband of Priscilla.
