Jennie Bowers Busch, 87, of Haltom City, Texas, died peacefully in the presence of her children on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, after a long illness. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Richland Hills Christian Church, 3908 Ruth Road, Richland Hills, Texas, 76118. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennie's name to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, 5740 Airport Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas, 76117 or online at mealsonwheels.org . Jennie was born on July 29, 1929, to Harry and Robbie Mantooth Bowers in Lufkin, Texas. She was the youngest of five children. Jennie was a graduate of Lufkin High School and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from her beloved TCU in 1950. She met and married her husband George in Lufkin in 1954 and became a loving and devoted mother to her five children. She loved working as an elementary school teacher both before having her own children and then after they were grown. She was awarded Teacher of the Year several times. Jennie was a constant source of love, encouragement and support to friends and family alike and was known for her kindness and selflessness. She had a large circle of friends and family with whom she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and playing bridge and penny slot machines. Her sense of adventure led her to travel the world extensively and she would often take her family and friends with her. Jennie loved the beach and was an avid collector of seashells. She was active in many organizations, most recently volunteering for Meals on Wheels for more than ten years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Toulmin Bowers, Edwin Bowers, Cleo Cuningham and Callie Green; her son, Steven Busch; son-in-law, Dennis Lunsford; her grandsons, Ryan Kennedy and Nathan Lunsford; and her former husband, George Busch. Survivors: Children, Susan Busch, Julia Busch and husband, Richard Ulrich, Joe Busch and wife, Elizabeth, and Sally Lunsford; grandchildren, Emily King and husband, Matt, Mallory Condra and husband, Kevin, and Jessica Aldridge; great-grandchildren, Abigail King, Lillian King, Aphrodite Condra, Madison Condra and Sunny Condra; and many nieces and nephews.
