In memory of
Jeannine Marie Shanard
Jeannine Marie Shanard Naples, FL Jeannine Marie Shanard passed peacefully Thursday morning, January 12th 2017. Jeannine was born March 19th, 1934 in Atlanta Georgia to Cecil and Ailene McDonald of Columbus Georgia. Jeannine graduated from Columbus High School and soon after met and married David Shanard (Shan the Man) who was stationed at Fort Benning Georgia. After marrying David the happy couple returned to Bridgewater South Dakota where they spent 12 years raising their children John and Karla. In 1967 the Shanard's moved to Naples Florida. Jeannine was an active member of the GOP, American Cancer Society, and Southwest Florida Cotillions Association. Jeannine was a parish secretary to Trinity By The Cove Episcopal Church of Naples for 7 years. She was also an active volunteer of the Episcopal Church thrift store and worked in many novelty shops through out old Naples and dabbled in real estate sales. David and Jeannine enjoyed their summers at their home in the Carolinas as she felt close to her birth state of Georgia. There were many fond memories of the Florida Gators and Georgia Bull Dogs rivalry football games shared by all in the Shanard home, as always Jeanine was a gracious hostess. Jeannine's favorite hobbies were her exquisite needlepoint work, perfected fried chicken and her love of collecting birdhouses. Jeannine had a loving family, John and Karla Shanard both of Naples Florida, four grand children Lindsay Shanard Goddard (Keith Goddard) Jayme Shanard Funigiello (Joe Funigiello) Travis Hegg (Rachel McInerney) David Hegg (Jessica) and her six wonderful loving great grand children as well as her brother, Charley McDonald. Her beloved husband of 64 years David J. Shanard, their devoted son John D. Shanard and Jeannine's older brother Cecil McDonald Jr. precedes Jeannine in death. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends; we ask that all those who knew Jeannine to please remember her as gracious lady and southern bell. We would like to extend a special thanks to Avow Hospice of Naples, Bayshore Memory Care and particularly, Sandy Landers RN. and the many caregivers who generously assisted in her final days. Services will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00am located at 500 Park Shore Drive Naples Florida 34103.
